A little about me

My name is Astami and I am a lifestyle photographer bi-coastal based, both in New York City and Los Angeles. We're always on the road, traveling to amazing countries like South Africa, Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Peru, Italy, France, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and of course, my motherland.... beautiful Indonesia. Don't ask me what my favorite city is... I just can't pick. Our clients are all around the world and we wouldn't want it any other way. We shoot both film and digital photography and we have a whole lot of fun. Our passion is to capture the love, the laughter, the hugs, and all the moments in between. 

While growing up, my father documented our whole childhood through his love for photography. I always admired how much he valued preserving the memories that he captured and thought that it truly spoke volumes about his love for us. It has been said: "If you want to learn what someone fears losing, watch what they photograph", and I truly believe that. I love the nostalgia of looking through family albums and reliving the memories through these cherished photos.

I have a huge heart and love to treat everyone I meet like family. I absolutely love volunteering and above all just helping others in hopes of making the world just a touch better. From something as simple as bringing a smile to someone's face, I just know that lending my heart is the greatest gift I can give.

With every wedding I shoot, I take each one very personally. I love getting to know my bride and groom as if they were family and I know that this allows me to capture each couple with their rawest emotions.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to some of the most amazing places in the world. With each location's beauty usually comes a little bit of sadness. I am ever so grateful  to be where I am today thanks to my amazing clients and I wanted to use this opportunity to give back. After reading Half the Sky, I found myself  determined to help further the cause, little by little. If you haven't read Half the Sky yet, pick it up.
